Gracing the Stage Launch Show. February 20, 2009.

When asked to host the show for his upcoming web launch, we told Steve it sounded like a bad idea. But his website, Gracing the Stage, is quite a good idea and he is a loyal friend, so we threw caution to the wind and agreed. But we need you help. You need to come to the show and enjoy it.

February 20, 2009
Bread & Circus
299 Augusta Avenue
(in Kensington Market)

Here a write-up from the facebook event:
Hosted by improv duo Iron Cobra, the 1st launch party will take place at Bread and Circus on Feb. 20th, featuring performances from Entire Cities, The Williamson Playboys, Gravity Wave, Levi Macdougall, Maylee Todd, 10,000 to Flight, Convergence Theatre, and Carnegie Hall!

The line-up for the second night, at Comedy Bar on Feb. 21st, will be announced shortly.

Advance tickets for both shows will soon be available at their respective venues, and at record store Soundscapes (572 College St.). Tickets will be $12 in advance, and $15 at the door.

The venues were chosen for the fact that they are artist owned and operated; since neither is particularly large, advance tickets are HIGHLY recommended. These shows WILL sell out!
At the very least, don't you want to come to understand why the man pictured above runs one of Toronto's preeminent performance blogs?

IRON COBRA performs for free tonight...in Toronto.

Hi everyone,

This is Becky. Becky from IRON COBRA.

I am writing you all to inform you that we (IRON COBRA) will be performing tonight at the Comedy Bar in Toronto as part of catch23 Improv's we-put-Graham-in-charge-an
d-can't-feel-right-about-charging-you-money series.

The show starts at 9:00pm

I have to admit to being concerned about what will happen on stage. My irony was recently injured and now I am mostly doing baby characters that are kind of embarrassing for everyone. And Graham started wearing his pants backwards because he thinks that's what rap music is all about. Plus he wants to be all about rap music.

At least we will be outplayed by Peter Stevens, Kayla Lorette and Alana Johnston.

Did anyone read all of this?

Love,

Becky

Bitch Salad. May 27.

We're back from the dead, yet again, world. Actually, we've been back from the dead a bit here and there but we didn't bother telling many people. But this time, for real. Then we will die again as Becky goes away for six months. But until then...

That's right, we're doing Bitch Salad, Andrew Johnston's monthly comedy show "for Bitchy Queens...by Bitchy Queens." And then there's us. I guess we have to learn to bitch it up a bit. We're stretching our sass at the time of this writing.

But wait, there's more. We are also going back to some favorite stomping grounds - Edmonton and Atlanta - for the annual Improvaganza and World Domination TheatreSports Championships (respectively). But more on that later.

Oh, and we made a facebook page.

Thank you, Georgia!

Dear Dad's Garage Theatre Company and other people of Georgia,

Thank you very much for having us back to your lovely city, theatre and/or tournament. Don't let the picture above confuse you; when Iron Cobra displays our trademark spectrum of ennuie and disgust, we are actually dsiplaying our special kind of "love".

We had a great time, and it wasn't just the mint juleps (although, seriously, Liz, it was). Furthermore, in the spirit of Canadian moderation, we are very happy to have left the stage as half of the first ever 1st place tie at your lovely tournament.

And thank you to team Los Angeles for sharing the 1st place spot with us.

And thank you to Josh Dean for joining us in the much-coveted Iron Cobra "buffer" position.

Love and stuff,

Becky Johnson
